ZF Presents Wireless Energy Harvesting Solutions at ISE 2019

Stand 9-B115, ISE 2019

At ISE 2019 in Amsterdam from 5th to 8th February, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, Business Unit Electronic Systems, shows the world’s first wireless energy harvesting KNX light switch module, an energy harvesting product for communication with Bluetooth Low Energy, and a new wireless light switch module with ZigBee 3.0 Green Power.

The KNX-RF Module which is configurable via ETS (from ETS5) without a gateway, uses energy harvesting technology to power the switch and therefore needs no power supply for normal operation. This means that the ZF KNX-RF Push Button Module requires virtually no maintenance during operation.

ZF’s intelligent operating concept allows the switch to carry out up to six different functions. The functions available for dimming, shading operations, scene retrieval, or classic toggle operation make it possible to perfectly adapt each KNX-RF Push Button Module to the user’s needs.

Already in full production, the wireless light switch module comes ready to install. It is compatible with standard frames and panels for energy harvesting light switch modules and can also be combined with customer-specific designs and control panels.

Also at ISE, ZF presents a completely new energy harvesting solution based on Bluetooth 5.0 using the RSL10 SIP from ON Semiconductor. The ZF Energy Harvesting Generator incorporated with the Bluetooth Low Energy RSL10 SIP will allow designers to develop bespoke wireless control solutions for a wide range of low-cost, low-energy applications including control solutions in buildings, home systems automation, lighting, shutter control, healthcare, alarm systems, fall detection, vehicle counting and many more.

The third RF standard that will be presented by ZF is a ZigBee 3.0 Green Power module which can be used as a light or shutter switch. One of Zig Bee 3.0 Green Powers major advantages is the switching of scenes: Depending on customer requirements several modules can be programmed to operate at the same time. Bearing this in mind the energy-harvesting wireless light switch module offers almost endless possibilities.
