Siemens Shows New KNX Components for Desigo Room Automation Applications at ISH 2017

ISH 2017, Frankfurt, Germany, March 14–18, 2017, Hall 10.2, Booth C55

Intuitive operation and increased flexibility for Desigo building management system

-Desigo Control Point for graphical operation of HVAC plants
-Room pressure and fume hood control for laboratories and clean rooms
-More flexible scope of use thanks to new hardware components

The Siemens Building Technologies Division has added numerous new components and functions to its Desigo building automation system. The system now includes significant new portfolio elements for cost-efficient and flexible solutions especially for small and medium-sized projects that require little integration. The new version of Desigo will be presented to the public for the first time at ISH 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The user-friendly Desigo Control Point solution is one of the main innovations in the new version of Desigo. It offers building management functionality via web access and state-of-the-art touch panels. A graphical user interface allows users to operate HVAC, lighting and shading disciplines. The solution also allows energy dashboards to be created for managing and analyzing the energy footprint of the monitored systems.

The new PX Compact Controller with island bus complements the Desigo family. It can be flexibly expanded with TX I/O modules to cover a greater number of data points. In combination with TXI2.OPEN, the compact controller also offers various integration options.

One key component of the room automation portfolio of the new Desigo version is a solution for room pressurization and fume hood control specially developed for use in laboratories and clean rooms. This solution communicates via BACnet/IP and ensures reliable, precise and fast measurement, control and monitoring of air volumes and room pressures. The room automation portfolio now also includes a new KNX PL-Link rotary actuator which is designed for use with 6-way ball valves, as well as a new KNX-PL link light dimmer and new cost optimized room operator units. The functionality of the Desigo Room Automation applications is also extended to include heat pump application types further complimenting the existing application suite.

Finally, Desigo offers new migration paths that ease the switch from Siemens existing management stations to the comprehensive Desigo CC building management platform.
