Reliable wireless communication at KNX level
Wireless installations often mean compromises, but the KNX RF Multi plays by different rules. The particularly robust communication is underpinned by three technical principles:
Secure transmission:
Each message sent is confirmed. With the Fast Acknowledge mechanism, the system automatically detects faults and initiates a new transmission immediately. This ensures reliable data quality even in challenging environments.
High reliability:
KNX RF Multi uses several wireless channels in parallel, so that devices can switch to a free frequency independently in the event of interference. This increases stability in buildings with many sources of interference or high wireless load.
Energy efficiency through Slow Low Energy:
The Slow Low Energy mode enables a particularly long battery life. For example, the Gira RF Multi servo can be operated for up to two typical heating seasons with just two standard AA batteries — a decisive advantage when planning low-maintenance systems.
This combination makes KNX RF Multi a wireless solution that works just as stably as a classic wired KNX TP installation, while remaining effectively protected against tampering thanks to KNX Secure.
Easy retrofitting without interfering with the building structure
KNX RF Multi is an ideal add-on, especially in existing buildings. Integration is possible via the Gira RF Multi/TP media coupler, which integrates wireless components securely and with update capability into existing KNX TP lines. In larger buildings, the media coupler can also be used as a repeater to increase range and signal quality.
This makes modernisations much faster to implement without having to open up walls or install additional wiring.

RF Multi servo for KNX
The servo makes it possible to wirelessly integrate radiators into the KNX system. It replaces conventional thermostats and provides the foundation for efficient energy management.
Typical applications include:
- flexible time profiles for each room,
- automations based on weather sensors or window contacts,
- smart heating processes using logic functions in the Gira X1 or Gira HomeServer,
- visualisation of relevant values in the Gira Smart Home App or Gira G1.
RF Multi operating top units for KNX
The top unit converts existing Gira System 3000 inserts into fully functional wireless actuators, enabling dimming, switching, DALI control or blind automation. Visually, the overall appearance in the room remains consistently uniform, because the operating top units can be integrated into the design lines of the Gira System 55 and the Gira F100. With this, even later retrofits look as though they were planned from the outset.
Gira RF Multi data interface for KNX
The data interface serves as a wireless connection to the ETS. It enables programming, diagnostics and maintenance even without direct access to the installation, saving time on servicing and start-up.
