Basalte Shows B.link Integration Module for Asano KNX Multiroom Audio System at ISE 2015

Basalte launches B.link, the new integration module for its KNX multiroom audio system Asano. B.link allows users to control third party audiovisual devices over KNX via infrared or serial connections. This evolution broadens the possibilities for automated systems, since this now also allows an integration and control of non-KNX devices with a KNX automation system.

Asano is a networked multiroom audio system that fully integrates with KNX. The Asano product family consists of high-quality amplifiers and connection modules that distribute uncompressed crystal clear audio from any source to any room. Thanks to its modular design, Asano offers an unseen flexibility and scalability.

Control third party AV devices with KNX

The revolutionary multiroom audio system from Basalte has now been extended with B.link. This DIN rail module integrates Infrared and Serial RS232 IP-modules with KNX and makes it possible to control any IR or Serial RS232 device with KNX. All sources such as CD players, tuners or digital set top boxes, become part of the Asano system. This allows users to control these devices over KNX controls, like switches, remote controls or the visualization on a touch screen.

Universal remote control

Combined with the B.link module, Basalte also created a solution to control the KNX system with only one remote control. BO.sensor integrates Bang & Olufsen® infrared remote controls with KNX systems and allows controlling KNX lights, screens and scenes with the Beo 4. The BO.sensor module sits behind the original Bang & Olufsen® infrared sensor powering it directly from the KNX bus without any additional power supply. Together with B.link, powerful macros can be started by a single button press.

B.link can be combined with up to 16 B.link flex modules that communicate over IP and can be placed anywhere in the house. To each B.link flex, you are able to connect up to 3 IR transmitters using a splitter or a single Serial RS232 cable. Power for the B.link flex is provided over Ethernet. As a bonus, up to 3 surround receivers can be integrated directly over IP.

With B.link, source selection and volume control with full feedback can be controlled with KNX commands. B.link supports receivers from Pioneer, Marantz, Integra, Denon and Onkyo.
